We Got You, Babe

We’ve had a rough 7-10 days. Last week, Linda found out she had no job to go back to at the end of the month. This week, our water stopped working and we’re still not sure when we can stop drinking and washing ourselves and our dishes out of 5 gallon buckets. Violet is rejecting the bottle and Linda’s milk seems to be drying up for some unknown reason. Last night, to top it off, our computer was infected with a virus. Still, we don't feel put upon. How can we when we can look at this...

  1. I'm so sorry! It does seem that when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. Hopefully, you can take baby steps to get everything back on track.
Poor Linda! On the bright side, maybe it was meant for her to stay home longer with Violet.
I am sending good wishes your way!

  2. If you need to take a shower...your family is always welcome here. You're wise to see Violet as so much more important than all of the worldly inconveniences. Good luck to Linda, though. That stinks. Lots of good thoughts and wishes from our corner too. A.

  3. Anne - Thank you so much. Linda did not love her job, so I keep telling her that this a great opportunity to find something she loves. She doesn't need to go back right away, which means more time home with Violet and time to hunt for something good. So, we'll see...

  4. Amy - Very, very kind of you! I'm happy to report that, for now, our water is up and running again. It's a little green and smelly - they're telling us that's normal - and that we should be able to shower tomorrow. I won't be drinking it for a loooong time. And as for Violet, I was sitting in the rocker with her this morning, listening to the sound of a backhoe tearing up our backyard while Linda filled out unemployment paperwork, and I thought to myself, "Thank God Violet is here. She makes all of this seem like no big deal." Except when she fills her diaper and we can't use the sink. Then it's a big deal.
